Children and young people in today's world face numerous expectations & constant stimulation through the internet and other media and communication technologies. Children experience stress and mental health challenges because there is also increased pressure to succeed in school, partly due to increased competition. Even modern society offers plenty of distractions and unwelcome attractions, especially linked to new media technologies. While these media technologies are valuable resources in children's lives for communication, learning and entertainment. But technology can affect children's social development by robbing them of empathy, compassion and sensitivity to human relationships, affecting their focus and closeness with their family.
As we know, mental health problems are common among children and young people. Yoga may help children and young people cope with stress and thus, contribute positively to balance in life, well-being and mental health. In a recent book on yoga education in India, the author claims that "in a nutshell, yoga is a powerful medium for developing the personality of children and making them capable of facing the present dat challenges and problems."
