Ardha Baddha Padma Vrikshasana means

This asana has a powerful effect on the liver and spleen. 

 

Top 5 Steps of Ardha Baddha Padma Vrikshasana:

 

First Stand in Tadasana and then separate your feet about hips width apart.

Bend your left knee and then hold the left ankle with the left hand and place the heel on or above the right thigh as high as possible, the sole of the foot should face the sky.

 

Grab the left ankle with the right hand and bring the left hand back and try to hold the left big toe.

 

Stretch your left hand and point towards the sky and look at any fixed point in front of you. With normal breathing stay in this pose for about 30 seconds.

 

Get back into Tadasana and repeat the same on the other side for equal amount of time.

 

Beginners Tips:

 

If you cant reach the left toe with your left hand then hold the left leg with your right hand and stretch the left hand towards the sky.
